Franklin "Frankie" Carter Obituary

Franklin "Frankie" N. Carter, age 68, 120 Cooper Lane, Erwin, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015, in the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and son of the late Bryan and Lou Ella Harris Carter. Mr. Carter was a self employed truck driver. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Carter. Mr. Carter leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Reva Bailey Carter; a son, Gary Carter of Flag Pond; his step-mother, Zetta Carter of Erwin; a granddaughter, Alex Carter; a half-sister, Lorena Jones; several nieces and nephews, Carrie Valdes and husband, Andy of Flag Pond; Candace Meadows of Flag Pond; Kimberly Miller and husband, Alex of Erwin; Nicholas Meadows of Erwin; two special great nephews, Porter Huskins and Drew Valdes. The family will receive friends Monday, March 16, 2015, from 5:00 P. M. until the hour of service at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 120 Cooper Lane, Erwin. Brother Logan Buchanan will officiate at the 7:00 P. M. funeral service. Music will be provided by the Gary Mainer family. Serving as active pallbearers will be Bill Bailey, Tim Bailey, Norman Edwards, Nicholas Meadows, Art Metcalf, Alex Miller, Andy Valdes and Danny Casey. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his trucking and racing buddies. Committal service will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at 11:00 A. M. in the Higgins Chapel Cemetery, Flag Pond. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 A. M.
