James Earl Fowler, 79, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family members. Born February 27, 1936 in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late Harry S. “Buzz” Fowler and Zelda Powell Fowler.

He graduated from New Castle High School in 1954 and General Motors Institute in Flint, MI in 1956. He was the owner and operator of Fowler’s Taxi and Limousine Service and later employed by Cox Overhead Garage Doors. Jim was a member of the Taxi Cab Association, Laurel Lions, Hickory Township Volunteer Fire Department, Lodge of the Craft, New Castle Consistory, and a Rainbow “Dad”. He was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed many trips in his recreational vehicle and woodcrafting. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and his grandchildren’s sports and dance activities. He was devoted to his family and very proud of his children and grandchildren’s achievements. He attended Calvary Independence Church as a youth and later Third Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his spouse and high school sweetheart of 57 years, Marcelyn (Marcie) Evans Fowler; daughter, Allyson Fowler Waskin and her husband Kevin of New Castle; son, Timothy Evans Fowler and his wife, Lori, of Mercer, PA; his grandchildren, Chandler and Hunter Waskin, Cody, Trenton, and Trevor Fowler; and family pet, Sassz.

Visitation will be held Sunday 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home 3000 Wilmington Rd. Services will be held Monday at 1:30pm at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Dennis Bupp.

Entombment will take place at Castleview Memorial Gardens.
