Dennis Trent Obituary

Dennis Clinton Trent, age 68, 101 Balsam Drive, Erwin, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, at his residence. He was a native of St. Paul, VA and a son of the late Elmer Charles Trent and Katie Hill Trent. Mr. Trent was a U. S. Army Veteran. He retired in 2006 as Conductor for the CSX Railroad where he had been employed for the past thirty-seven and a half years. Mr. Trent was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Erwin Elk Lodge #1985; a member of the Centennial Lodge #491 F&AM; a member of the Shriners International; and a lifetime member of the VFW #5809. Other than his parents, Mr. Trent was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Neil Trent; two brothers, Ricky Trent and Clifford Trent; and a sister, Kathy Trent Lipps. Mr. Trent leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-eight years, Brenda Ramsey Trent; two daughters, Gillanne Trent McKinney of Erwin and Kayla Trent Skipper of Johnson City; two brothers, Kelly Trent and wife, Jeanette of Castlewood, VA and Rodney Trent of St. Paul, VA; two sisters, Charlotte Gilbert and husband, Travis of Murrells Inlet, SC and Ginger Reedy and husband, Scott of Charleston, SC; one grandson, Aiden Kyle Skipper; and two granddaughters, Kaitlin Lee McKinney and Jenna Page McKinney; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Frank "Spud" Sears, Billy Hillman, Roger Gardner, Clay Rogers and a very very special friend, Benny Emmert. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12, 2015, from 5:00 P. M. to 7:00 P. M. at the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Leonard Ferguson and Reverend Tom Colley will officiate at the 7:00 P. M. funeral service. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Centennial Lodge #491. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Clay Rogers, Homer Gardner, Bobby Holmes and Wayne Dickenson. Active pallbearers will be Benny Emmert, Frank "Spud" Sears, Roger Gardner, Cody Dillard, Keith Mullins, Chuck Vanhoy and Randy Gardner. Committal Service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015, in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Castlewood, VA. Those wishing to attend the 2:00 P. M. service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 P. M.
