Charles Workinger Obituary

Charles E. Workinger, 89 of Monroe, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Adams Woodcrest. Charles was born on March 17, 1925 in Detroit, MI to the late Glen A. and Mary (Wechter) Workinger. On October 21, 1944 he married Neva D. Cook. Charles was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church where he served on many committees and also a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Monroe Lions Club of which he was President and Zone Chairman; he served on the Board of Directors of the Bank of Geneva; Decatur Masonic Lodge #571; Scottish Rite Valley Ft. Wayne and Mizpah. He was a member of the Heedless Horseman (men’s choral group) and on the Christian Outreach committee all in Largo, Florida. Charles was co-owner of Monroe Grain and also a farmer and truck driver. Surviving is his wife of 70 years Neva D. Workinger of Monroe; a son, Gary L. (Arlene) Workinger of Monroe; two daughters, Pat A. (Dan) Michaels and Judy K. (Ron) Collins both of Decatur; 8 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Workinger; two sisters, Fern Rowdon and Flo Brandt. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from Noon-4:00 p.m. at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home followed by a 4:00 p.m. Funeral Service. Pastor Char Allen will be officiating. Private burial will take place on Tuesday, March 17th at Ray Cemetery on his 90th Birthday. Memorials are to Monroe United Methodist Church or Family Life Care.
