Audrey Ruban

Audrey Anita S. Ruban, "Cookie" 93, passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2015 surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Newark to the late Carl and Helma Standt, she was a former resident of Union, Forked River, and Boca Raton, Florida. Mrs. Ruban proudly served her country as a sergeant in the WAAC and U.S. Army during World War II. She went on to work as the Board Secretary for the Springfield Board of Education, retiring after thirty years of dedicated service. Audrey was a life member of Deborah Heart and Lung Foundation, a volunteer deputy sheriff in Palm Beach County, Florida, and an avid golfer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and fishing partner, Robert W. Ruban. Surviving are her sister Jean Johnson of Boca Raton, Florida and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. A private graveside service will take place on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick.
