Bruce Painter

Bruce Arlen Painter, 80, of Winchester, Va. Passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 in the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, VA. Bruce was born on January 18, 1935 in Waynesboro, VA; the son of the late Andrew A. and Frenchie Mae McDonald Painter. He served with the U. S. Marines. He worked for Rubbermaid for twenty-five years and presently worked for Food Lion. Bruce worked every day never calling in and missing a day. He was a member of the American Legion Post 21 and was Past Commander of Post 21 and also Past Commander of the 15th District of the American Legion. In July of 1962 he married Shirley Jane Williams. Along with his wife, Shirley, he is survived by daughter, Tina Strickland and husband, Jeffrey of Marshall, VA; sons, Kyle R. Painter and Mark David Painter both of Winchester, two great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. He was also preceded in death by one son, Daryl and two brothers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, March 3, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 at Jones Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, 1:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Richard McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kyle R. Painter, Mark D. Painter, Mark C. Painter, Neil Thorne, Dennis Wagner and Clyde Raines. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
