Stephen Kozar Jr.

Stephen “Steve” Kozar Jr. age 76 of Pentwater passed away on February 26, 2015 at his home. Steve was born on April 12, 1938 in Sault St. Marie, son of the late Stephen and Helen (Kobra) Kozar. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1956 where he was an All-State Athlete and an All American Football Player. He received a scholarship to the University of Iowa through his hard work. On May 20, 1960 Steve married Diane Roedding at Our Lady of Good Council in Plymouth. He worked at Tool and Die and went on to management at General Motors. He was a member of St. Mary’s of Wayne, the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent’s in Pentwater. Steve’s passion was fishing the Great Lakes and going to Meta Lake Lodge in Canada with his sons, grandsons, and good friends. He also enjoyed going to Marco Island and fishing with his best friend Larry Zuckerman. Steve is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diane; children, David (Patty) Kozar, Leslie (Roy) Stefanko, Daniel (Dana) Kozar; seven grandchildren, Sydney, Matthew and Cameron Kozar, Dylan and Devon Stefanko, Collin and Caden Kozar; one great grandson, Elijah Kozar; sister, Carol Murphy; niece, Maureen Murphy and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Kozar. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday May 2, 2015 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Pentwater. Memorial contributions in Steve’s name may be directed to Cancer Research or American Heart Association.
