Dorothy Maxcy

Dorothy E. Maxcy, 93, died February 25, 2015 at Country Manor in Whitefield. She was born January 31, 1922 in Waldoboro to Oscar C. Smith and Rena Jones Smith. Dot graduated from Waldoboro High School in the class of 1939, the first class to graduate in the new high school. She married Earle “Doc” Maxcy on November 29, 1939 and they settled in Waldoboro. She worked for several years for Paragon Button Factory and went to work at GTE Sylvania in Waldoboro in 1951. She worked for Sylvania for over 27 years. She was a member of the Orff’s Corner Church in Waldoboro. She was a devoted wife and mother, who will be sadly missed. She and Earle spent 30 years at their cottage on Damariscotta Lake in Jefferson. They also spent 18 years in Florida during the months of March and April. She loved to ride along with her husband and her pet Sheltie to find new places or favorite places to eat. She is predeceased by her husband, Earle “Doc” Maxcy. She is survived by a son, Dale L. Maxcy and his wife Sheila of Waldoboro Granddaughter, Kelly Maxcy and her fiancé Tom Scofield of Jefferson Great grandson, Dustin L. Chamberlain and his partner Nikki Pratt of Waldoboro Friends are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, March 2nd followed by service to celebrate Dot’s life at 2 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro. Pastor Tom Rawley will officiate. Burial will be in the spring at the Orff’s Corner Cemetery in Waldoboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dot’s memory may be made to the Orff’s Corner Church, P.O.
