M. L. Norris Obituary

M. L. Norris returned home to rest in God’s everlasting arms of February 21, 2015. M. L. was born in Coffeeville, Alabama on August 26, 1930 to Lake Norris and Clare Mae Phillips. M. L. served in the US Army for 6 years during which time he served as a staff sergeant and received two honorable medals. M. L. is survived by Jessie Norris, the love of his life and wife for 64 years. Together they lived 40 years in Roosevelt, New Jersey where they dedicated their lives to raising their three children. M. L. worked multiple jobs to support his family and retired from Carter Wallace in Cranbury, New Jersey after working there 28 years. M. L. and Jessie returned to Alabama where they lived in Nanafalia for the last 15 years. M. L. loved life and found joy in simple things. He loved gardening, tending to his yard and feeding and watching birds. M. L. was an enthusiast story teller. One can say “he never met a stranger”. One of his greatest joys was making his “Popo” breakfast for his family. He was a spiritual man and loved the Lord with all his heart. M. L. is also survived by his three children, Sherry Jones and husband, Chuck of Princeton, MJ; Ken Norris and partner, Stephanie of Banner Elk, NC; Linda Quattrone and husband, Bob of New Egypt, NJ; a brother, Basil Norris of Coffeeville, AL; a sister, Willodean Engwall of Chicago, IL. M. L. adored his five grandchildren; Ken, Rob, and Jessie Quattrone, Jarhett Norris and Elysia Jones. His joy was also multiplied by his great grandchildren, Kenny and Conor Quattrone, Ryland and Rhett Norris, Lucas and Layla Quattrone, and Bella, Dominick, and Henry Sopko. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, AL at 2:00 pm with Claude Agee officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville, AL. M. L. requested donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
