Lydia Dacus Obituary

Lydia Pauline Dacus, 89 of Russellville, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. She was born August 13, 1925 in London, Arkansas, the daughter of John D. and Cassie Nordin. Pauline graduated from London High School. Upon graduation, she attended Arkansas Tech University and received her teacher’s license. She taught school in a two-room school house, worked in a defense plant during WWII, worked as a telephone operator and a nurses’ aid at St. Mary Hospital. After her children were grown, she worked in childcare for a number of years. She taught Sunday School and faithfully served the Lord and her church. She was a member of Pottsville Assembly of God Church. She was preceded into the arms of the Lord by her parents, her husband, Don Madison Dacus, two sons, one brother and six sisters. She is survived by two sons, Don Dacus of Russellville, Richard Dacus and wife, Phyllis of Greenbrier; sister, Paula Hardin and husband, Sam of Manchester, Missouri; a Daughter-in-Law, Regina Dacus of Dardanelle; two Sisters, Cora Banks of Dardanelle and Naomi Newbern of London; two Sisters-in-Law, Lila Morphis and Gay Hickman of Russellville; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Memorial service will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, February 20, at Pottsville Assembly of God with Rev. Sam Austin officiating under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
