Loretta Nicholson

East Millinocket – Heaven gained another angel on Friday, February 13, 2015 when Loretta Jean Nicholson passed on. She was born September 22, 1937 in Fort Kent, the daughter of Charles and Dora Landry. Loretta met a wonderful and devoted man, Neil H. Nicholson, and on May 28, 1955 they were married. They raised 5 lovely children together. Loretta was very creative with crafts, and loved knitting mittens and socks for the family. During her working years, Loretta worked at the Great Northern Hotel, as well as at J.J. Newberry’s in Millinocket. She was a member of St. Ann’s Circle, Daughters of Isabella. For many years, Loretta was involved in the organization and operation of the Lawn Party at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in East Millinocket. She looked forward to the antique treasure rides and visits with her sisters from the west coast. Loretta greatly enjoyed going on rides to the coast with Neil, and walking down on the Hathaway Farm Road. She will be missed by her family, and remembered for her constant smile, which would light up a room. Loretta is survived by her husband of 59 years, Neil H. Nicholson of East Millinocket; four children, Scott Nicholson and his wife Judy of East Millinocket, Shawn Nicholson and his wife Karen of Norcross, Cory Nicholson and Barbara Crocker of Medway, and Denise Elwell and her husband Richard of Benedicta; a son in law, Micheal Inners of Vermont;four grandchildren, Mellissa Brown and her husband Derek, Emily Nicholson, Jason Rideout, and Nate Elwell; a great grandson, Damian Brown; a sister, Norma Idol of California; three sisters in law, Nancy Lyons, Joyce Nicholson, and Rena Landry; and several step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Loretta was predeceased by a step daughter, Katelyn Inners;siblings, Gilda and Gerald Vienneau, Cary Landry, and Walt Landry; brothers in law, Daniel Nicholson, Donnie Lyons, and Tom Riddell and his wife Irene. Memorial services will be held 2 P.M. Thursday, February 19 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Bruce Siket officiating. Spring interment will be at the East Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Loretta may be sent to Katahdin Health Care, 22 Walnut St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
