Joyce Delores Andes, 72, of Atchison, KS, formerly of Kansas City area, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Atchison Senior Village Nursing Home. Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 am Thursday, February 19th, 2015 at the United Methodist Church, Atchison with Rev. Nancy J Kollhoff officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 pm at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 18th, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to NEK Multi County Hospice or Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences and memories to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com. Joyce Delores Saby was born on May 27, 1942 in Granite Falls, MN the daughter of Joseph and Arlene A. (Steinbach) Saby. She graduated from high school in Granite Falls, MN. She worked in the Customer Service / Data Processing Department for International Harvester for twenty years before she started, owned and operated a cleaning service called “Clean-n-Shine”. Joyce lived in Liberty, MO till 1985 when she moved to Overland Park KS. They moved to Atchison KS in 2003, she worked for Schweser’s clothing store and Muchnic Museum. She was a member of the Atchison United Methodist Church. Joyce volunteered for various aviation charity fund raisers, the Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce and The Salvation Army. She also liked being involved in her community, being on their neighborhood home owners association in Overland Park, organizing events and parties. In Atchison she enjoyed being a hostess during the annual Christmas homes tour. Joyce’s home was always decorated to the season or holiday, with plenty of baked goods. She loved to tend to her flower garden, and be in nature, near lakes and mountains. Joyce’s number one love was her family, being a supportive wife to Bill, being involved in all he did, going to reunions and seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was married to William B. “Bill” Andes on April 6, 1991 in Fairway, KS. He survives of the home in Atchison. Additional survivors include three daughters, Joy and Randy McManus, Kansas City, MO, and Kay Roach, Kansas City, MO., and Jan and Roger Svetlecic, Liberty, MO, two sisters; Hazel and Darrell Carter, Elaine and Gale Burns, three brothers; Elmer and Terrie Knutson, John and Michelle Knutson and Owen Imes, four grandchildren; Matt and Carly Roach, Josh Roach, Kaitlyn McManus, Ryan McManus and three great grandchildren; Peyton Marie, Reese Jolene, Campbell Rae Roach. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter; Kim Marie.
