Marguerite Knickle Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Marguerite Cora Knickle, 81, of Lunenburg, announces her passing on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Black Rocks, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Cora (Whynacht) Knickle. As a young girl, following the death of her mother, Marguerite went to live with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Knock in Kingsburg. Marguerite fondly told stories of how she loved helping Mr. Knock bring the cows to and from the pasture and help make hay. At 16, Marguerite went to Lunenburg to work at the hospital and lived there on site at the nurses' dorm. Marguerite was a natural as a healthcare provider and got pure satisfaction in helping others heal and in need. Marguerite obtained several home care positions before her marriage and arrival of six children. After her children were grown, Marguerite went to work at National Sea Products and eventually proudly worked for Dr. Arthur Patterson. Over the years, she attended St. Paul's United Church, Blue Rocks and later received confirmation, Holy Trinity Church, Bridgewater. Marguerite will be remembered as kind, generous and always putting the needs of others before her own. Her pride and joy was her family, supporting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their endeavors. Marguerite loved the outdoors, spending many enjoyable hours tending her gardens, cutting wood and picking berries. She will be remembered for her love of a good game of bingo, baking bread, clearing her land in Blue Rocks like a bulldozer... with her bare hands! and spending time with her family, a hard worker who took pride in her accomplishments big and small. She often said....you're never too old to learn. Marguerite is survived by her daughters, Julie (Douglas) Tanner, Garden Lots; Marilyn Hynick(Garth Hiltz), Martin's River; Nancy (Kenny) Knickle, Silver Point; sons, Lawrence (Carol Jane), Blue Rocks; Jessen (Elaine), Hebbville; John (Cathy), Middle LaHave and sister, Maisie Tanner, Bridgewater; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marguerite was predeceased by her former husbands, sisters, Elizabeth, Beulah, Muriel, Julie, Blanche, Beatrice, and brothers Leaman, John, Foster, Raymond, Freeman and step-brothers, William, Edward, Harris and Cyril and step-sister, Hilda. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg with visitation on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and where a memorial service to celebrate Marguerite's life will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Mark Baker, officiating. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. Arthur Patterson Centre for Restorative Care or to a charity of your choice.
