Jacob McGlothlin

Mr. Jacob Wayne McGlothlin, age 87, of the Laurel Branch section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Saturday (February 7, 2015) in a Tazewell, Virginia nursing facility. Born May 8, 1927 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Elder William Andrew and Lena Pearl Honaker McGlothlin. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of Fletchers Ridge Primitive Baptist Church, where he had served as deacon. A disabled coal miner, he had formerly been employed by Clinchfield Coal Company and was a member of UMWA Local #1640. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha James McGlothlin, one daughter, Sylvia Jean McGlothlin, two grandsons, Douglas McGlothlin and J.D. McGlothlin, three brothers, Hyder King McGlothlin, Fred McGlothlin, and Hadley McGlothlin, and two sisters, Joyce McGlothlin and Vinnie McGlothlin. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, McKinley and Kathleen McGlothlin of Swords Creek, Clayton McGlothlin of Honaker, Darnell and Patsy McGlothlin of Honaker, Jerry and Teresa McGlothlin of Richlands, and Burl and Donna McGlothlin of Honaker; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Steve Morrell of Honaker and Marcella and Sam McCoy of Bristol, Virginia; four granddaughters, Pamela Keith, Veronica Broadwater, Kristy Vandyke, Jascenda Crocket; nine grandsons, Anthony McGlothlin, John McGlothlin, Clay McGlothlin, Wesley Woodard, Christopher Woodard, Terry McGlothlin, Timothy McGlothlin, Brent Musick, and Jeffrey McGlothlin; foster granddaughter, Kristian Shortt; two sisters, Martha Ball of Honaker, and Dollie Compton and husband, Eugene of Lebanon; four brothers, Dallas McGlothlin, Memphis McGlothlin and wife Judy of Honaker, Rean McGlothlin and wife Faye of Honaker, Carlis McGlothlin of Honaker; two sisters-in-law, Sue McGlothlin and Betty McGlothlin; five step-grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, one step-great-great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker Virginia with Elder Jim O’Quinn, Elder Jim Duty, and Elder Don Stacy officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons, granddaughters, and the men of Fletchers Ridge Primitive Baptist Church.
