Mr. Farley Hargis, age 70, of the Laurel Branch Rd. section of Vansant, Virginia passed away Thursday (February 6, 2015) in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital. Born June 8, 1944 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Albert and Rosa Barton Hargis. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a retired coal miner, having been employed by Jewell Smokeless Coal Corporation and was a of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed fishing, playing music and riding his motorcycle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Hargis and Albert Hargis, Jr. and two sisters, Alice Faye Pemberton and Arbutus Runyon. Survivors include his loving wife of forty-seven years, Becky Jo Hargis of the home; three sons, Dale Hargis, David Hargis and wife, Christy and Daniel Hargis and wife, Amanda all of Davenport, Virginia; one daughter, Tina Hargis Presley of Lebanon, Virginia; twelve grandchildren, Amy Hargis, Shane Hargis, Trevor Hargis, Natalie Hargis, Blake Hargis, Christopher Hargis, Tiffany Stacy, Nichele Hargis, Sebastian Hargis, Samantha Presley, Jeremy Presley and Jared Presley; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Stiltner and Skyleigh Stacy; one sister, Hazel Geraldine Harris of Council, Virginia and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Sunday.
