Mary Gaetani

East Millinocket – Mary A. Gaetani, 86, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 at a Millinocket health care facility. She was born May 24, 1928 in Millinocket, the daughter of George and Ann (Povilitus) Laurasonis. Mary grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1945. In 1951, she married Americo “Mig” Gaetani of East Millinocket. Mary was proud of being a homemaker. She was a member of the Millinocket Regional Hospital Auxiliary for several years. In her spare time, she enjoyed working with her hands, and created several quilts, sewed many items, and had an interest in expressing her artistic side through painting. Mary and Mig enjoyed living in East Millinocket, as well as spending summers at their camp on Cold Stream Pond. One of the highlights of the summer was the Italian Riviera Parade she participated in on the 4th of July at camp. She will be remembered as a gracious host and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, Mig Gaetani of East Millinocket; two children, Anthony Gaetani and his wife Sherry of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, and Patrick Gaetani and his wife Tori of Holden; four grandchildren, Kevin, Mitchel, Maria, and Madison; two brothers in law, Alfred Gaetani of Burlington, Vermont, and Peter Gaetani and his wife Jean of Old Town; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by a brother, George Laurasonis, a sister in law, Kitty Gaetani, and a brother in law, Armand “Sal” Gaetani. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, February 7 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 P.M. Saturday until the time of the service. Spring interment will be at the East Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Mary may be sent to Katahdin Health Care, 22 Walnut St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
