Richard "Rico" Lenker Obituary

Richard R. “Rico” Lenker, Sr., 66, of Hummelstown, passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 2, 2015, at his home. Born in Hershey on March 16, 1948, he was the son of the late Ray B. and Kathryn M. Pechart Lenker. Rico retired from hotel management, and was currently working as a bartender at Chick’s Tavern in Hummelstown. He was a 1966 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School; and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Shippensburg University in 1970. Rico was a former member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hummelstown. He was a Social Member of the American Legion Post 265, Hummelstown. A man loved by all who knew him, Rico would go out of his way to help anyone in need. He found great enjoyment entertaining people at dances and clubs as D.J. Rico; and was a life-long Phillies fan. Rico’s greatest love, pride and joy was his family. He will be dearly missed. Rico is survived by three daughters, Erin M. Lenker of Hershey, Brooke E. Shorb wife of Matthew of York, Jessica DeHart wife of Jason of Hummelstown; one son, Richard R. Lenker, Jr. husband of Elissa of Palmyra; seven grandchildren, Brody Lenker, Megan Shorb, J.R. Shorb, Aidan Lenker, Rowan Lenker, Ellie DeHart and Chase DeHart; three sisters, Kathleen A. Coble wife of Don W. of Swanton, MD, Susan J. England wife of Marshall W. of Middletown, and Diane A. Payne wife of Robin of Golden, CO; one brother, Thomas E. Lenker husband of Shelby Steinbauer Lenker of Fairfield. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 6, 2014, at 11 AM in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Wayne D. Moritz officiating. Friends are invited to the viewings in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, on Thursday, February 5, 2015, from 6 to 8 PM, and in the church on Friday from 10 AM until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given in memory of Rico to the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, PA 17036, to help his family with funeral expenses
