Kenneth Washburne

Kenneth Edward Washburne, age 92, of Rye Brook, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2015 in his home. He was born on May 21, 1922 in White Plains, NY to the late Rutherford B. and Edith Austin Washburne. After graduating from White Plains High School in 1939, he proudly served as a Tech Sergeant in the US Army from 1942 to 1946 in the Ordnance Ammunition 690 Order Company. He was part of the European Campaign located in England and France. Before retiring, he was employed for 47 years at the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in NYC, which changed to the Chicago Premade Credit Corp. He started as an order typist and retired as a Vice President. Ken will be remembered for his dedication to his family, church and many historical organizations which he supported. Mr. Washburne is survived by his devoted spouse John S. Provino, nieces Susann, Gail, Leslie, Linda, Bonnie, Lois and Nancy and nephews John, Kenneth, Bruce, Carl, Glen, Richard, Peter and Michael and many extended family and friends. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Irving, sisters Jessie, Lois and Jean and beloved pets Jake and Pierre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the charity of one’s choice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 in the First United Methodist Church, 59 East Putnam Ave., Greenwich, CT at 11:00am. Interment is private. Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home of Milford, CT is handling the arrangements.
