Roselyn Johnson

Roselyn “Johnnie” M. Johnson, 98, of Ludington, passed away on January 26, 2015 at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. Johnnie was born on August 16, 1916 in Ludington to the late Jacob and Stella Sniegowski. She attended St. Stanislaus Schools. In May 1939 at St. Stanislaus Church in Ludington, Johnnie married D. Kermit Johnson, who preceded her in death in June 1991. She worked for many years at Paulina Stearns Hospital. She was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church and St. Stanislaus Rosary Society. Johnnie also volunteered for 15 years at Memorial Medical Center (Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital) making thousands of bears that were given to children at the emergency department of the hospital. Johnnie loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed all types of flowers and she couldn’t go to Orchard Market without bringing some home, no matter how many times she said that she wasn’t bringing another one home. Her hobby was collecting dolls, which she had hundreds of. Johnnie is survived by her daughter, Barbara Barney of Wyoming; son, Jim (Pam) Johnson of Pentwater; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Don Johnson; daughter-in-law Rita; four brothers; and six sisters. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 29 at St. Simon Catholic Church with Father Wayne Wheeler as celebrant. Burial will occur in the spring at Pere Marquette Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service and also on Wednesday, January 28 from 5 until 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions in Johnnie’s name may be directed to Pere Marquette Cemetery.
