Charles Chipps Obituary

The fourth generation Medicine Man in the linage of Woptura, the best friend and spiritual advisor to Crazy Horse. He was given his Spirit name and then born in the Ceremony House to Ellis and Victoria Chipps on Horn Chipps land. He grew up in the ceremonies, becoming an intercessor and Spiritual Interpretor. He helped thousands of souls to find their way back to wholeness, by teaching the power of prayer and gratitude. He taught that love is giving and forgiving. He was a father who loved his children. They are his pride and joy. He loved everyone with no conditions and compassion, helping anyone who crossed his path. He leaves a legacy of love. He is loved and honored throughout this world and will forever be remembered by his family and those whose lives he touched while he fulfilled his destiny on Earth living as a father, grandfather, teacher, guide, healer, and chief…a true Ate and Kola-We love you forever. Charles is survived by his children, Sherry, Michelle, Jessie, Trevor, Vincent, Godfrey, Raelene, Charles, Jr., Jeffrey, Andrew, and Rochelle Chipps all of Wanblee, SD, Ellis and Woptura Chipps both of Springfield, TX, and Crystal Chipps of Mission, SD; and all his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Charles also leaves behind many loved friends, Sundancers, and his Sundance community. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Chips; mother, Victoria (Lodge Skins) Chips; daughter, Charlotte Chipps; wife, Jaylene (Quick Bear) Chipps; and brothers, Vincent, Philip, and Godfrey Chips. Wake Services: Two night wake services starting at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Kennedy Hall in Wanblee, SD Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, January 28, 2015 at the Kennedy Hall in Wanblee, SD Burial Service: Chipps Family Cemetery, Wanblee, SD Traditional Lakota Services: Mr. Richard Moves Camp Officiating: The Rev.
