Vinicio R. Francis, 85, of Fairmont Avenue, passed away the evening of January 11, 2015 at Edison Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on August 29, 1929 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Antoinetta Cortello Francis. Surviving him at home is his beloved wife of over 57 years, the former Victoria Ranucci, whom he married on June 1, 1957.

In 1991, Vinicio retired from his job as the General Foreman of Maintenance for LTV Steel. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War Era. He was a member of St. Vitus Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #455. An avid golfer, Vinicio was very proud of getting two holes-in-one. He enjoyed dancing, travelling, bowling, going to Challenges, and playing pool.

In addition to his wife, Vinicio is survived by his children, Mark Francis and wife Rudelle of Penfield, NY, Eric Francis of Sewickley, PA, and Vinicia Conway of New Castle; sister, Doloris Iozzi of New Castle; and eight grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Francis.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites Saturday at 9:15am at the funeral home. A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vitus Church.

Interment will take place at St. Vitus Cemetery.
