Charles E. “Chuck” VanVickle, 86, of Kansas City, MO died Thursday, Jan. 8th, 2015 at the Golden Living Center, Smithville, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, Jan. 13th, 2015 at the Christ Lutheran Church, 6700 NW 72nd St, Platte Woods, MO with the Rev. T.C. Arnold officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday at the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison KS. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the church. The Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral home is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kansas City Hospice Association and maybe sent in care of the funeral home, 800 Kansas Ave, Atchison KS. Condolences and memories to the family maybe left online at www.beckerdyer.com. Chuck was born on July 16th, 1928 in Chanute, Kansas the son of Donald and Etna (Meeker) VanVickle. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1946. Mr. VanVickle worked as a printer for many different places including the Burd & Fletcher Printing of Kansas City MO. He had printed many of the pieces for the American Royal, Kansas City. Chuck was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Platte Woods, MO, and had volunteered at the North Kansas City Hospital. He was married to Gwendolyn Haeffele on June 24th, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Atchison, KS. Mrs. VanVickle had preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 2006. Survivors include a son, Brian VanVIckle, Pleasant Valley, MO., three grandchildren, Christopher Traub, Amber Traub, and Craig VanVickle all of Kansas City, MO. His parents, wife Gwendolyn, a brother, Jack VanVickle, and a sister, Mary Spahn preceded him in death.
