Renato Giuseppe Scialis, age 79, of Milford, passed away in his home on Thursday, January 8, 2015. Son of the late Michele and Anna Maria Curcio Scialis, he was born on February 17, 1935 in Belmonte Calabro, Italy. He served in the Italian Army as a Sentinel. Before retiring, he was employed as a tailor for 42 years. A loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, he will be remembered for his dedication to his family, gardening, animals, feeding the birds along with his passion for good food, wine and making his own salami. Mr. Scialis is survived by his beloved wife Emma Pastore Scialis, devoted sons Frank Scialis and his wife Joanne Scialis of Seymour and Renato Scialis and his wife Ayako of Quaker Hill, daughter Patrizia Scialis of Milford, sisters Olinda Scialis of Italy, brother Maurizio Scialis and sister Paola Salati and her husband Antonio all of Milford, grandchildren Isabella Rose, Adreanna, Nanako and Makoto, also numerous nieces and nephews in Italy, the United States and Brazil. Calling hours are Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 4 to 8pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 12th with Father Maroney in St. Ann’s Church, Naugatuck Ave., Milford at 11am. Entombment will follow in Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull.
