Donna Jean Smith Obituary

Donna Jean Cameron Vannatten Smith, 84, of West Parkway St., passed away the morning of January 7, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on December 16, 1930 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Dorothy J. Dock Cameron. On October 5, 1973, she married her beloved husband, Kenneth J. Smith, and the two of them spent over 29 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on November 1, 2002.


In earlier years, Donna worked at Shenango China and was a nurse’s aide. She was a member of Family Worship Center. She enjoyed boating, camping, and watching the Steelers. Donna loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.


Donna is survived by her children, Richard Vannatten, Donald L. Vannatten, Timothy J. Vannatten, Jeanne E. Vannatten Hall, and Michael E. Vannatten, all of New Castle; sister, Patricia L. Cameron of New Castle; ten grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her infant sisters, Betty and Ruth; sister, Dorothy Harper; and brother, Jack Cameron.


Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Services will be conducted Friday at 12:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Kris Kauffman.


Interment will take place at Parkside Cemetery.
