Kenneth Stahl Obituary

Kenneth E. Stahl, 91, of Grantville, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015, at his home. Born in Rutherford Heights on August 25, 1923, he was the son of the late Jacob H. and Grace Irene Crum Stahl. Ken retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot where he was an airplane mechanic. He was a 1941 graduate of the former Swatara High School. Ken was a World War II combat veteran having served with the Navy and Marines in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 9639, Shellsville, the American Legion Post 883, Jonestown, and the Disabled American Veterans. Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger days. Ken is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edna U. Platt Stahl, whom he married on September 2, 1950; two daughters, Kathy Ann Westbrook wife of Don of Boiling Springs, and Dora A. Franklin wife of Sean of Baltimore, MD; three sons, Ted V. Stahl husband of Sheri of Hershey, Edward K. Stahl husband of Barbara of Jamestown, NC, and James D. Stahl husband of Deb of New York, NY; one sister, Kathleen Boyanowski of Harrisburg; two brothers, Dean S. Stahl husband of Stella of Chelsea, MA, and Donald L. Stahl husband of Janet of Harrisburg; and 11 grandchildren, Chris, Sally, Molly, Ross, Reed, Kyle, Delaney, Alex, Mia, Marshal and Ryder. In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by a daughter, Sally Ann Stahl, on August 23, 1980; and five brothers, Robert Stahl, Clyde Stahl, Glenn Stahl, Henry Stahl and John Stahl. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Dr. Keith A. Blank, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Township. Friends are invited to the viewing in the funeral home on Thursday from 10 AM until time of the services. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be sent to Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, 165 North 67th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
