It is with great sadness the family of Gladys Muriel Kirby 81, of Halifax announces her passing on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the QE11 Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late Bronson and Grace (Allen) Cluett. In her earlier years Gladys attended a Business College in Halifax and held various positions in Halifax. Many will remember Gladys, as Queen of the Sea in 1954. Gladys is survived by a daughter, Sherri Kirby (Todd Slaunwhite), Fairview; sister, Lillian (Howard) Keeping, Lunenburg; grandson, Carter Slaunwhite, aunt, Rhea Creaser, Bridgewater; nephew Jeff and niece Gina (Tim Colp). Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg and where a memorial service to celebrate Gladys’s life will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Louis Quennelle officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church or to a charity of your choice.
