Donald E. “Don” Richards, 78, of East Ave., Shinnston, passed away at 7:10 p.m., Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at his residence. He was born at Owings, July 3, 1936, a son of the late, Joseph Goff and Ora Blanche Goodwin Richards. He was preceded in death by his wife, Twilla Ann Collins Richards, October 23, 2013. Surviving are three sons, Rusty Richards, Shinnston, Tim Richards and his wife Lisa, Peora, Jamie Todd Richards and his companion Bridgett Sickles, Hill Top, 13 grandchildren, Alyssia, Chasity, Terry, Justin, Miranda, Ashley, Chanda, Casi, Jamie Jr., Ella, Matthew, Michael and Shaun, and seven great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having also been preceded in death by, one son, Donald E. “Donnie” Richards, nine brothers, Lyda “Hop”, Paul, Elmer, Freeman, Ralph, French, William, Robert and Joseph Richards, and one infant sister, Tiny Richards. Don was a coal miner, having retired from Consolidation Coal Company, with 43 years service. He was a member of the St. John's Lodge #24, A.F. & A.M., Shinnston, a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Nemesis Shrine. Friends may call at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike Street, Shinnston, from 2-8 p.m., Sunday, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 29. Interment will be in the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery, where Masonic graveside rites will be accorded. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.perinefunerals.com.
