John Loney Obituary

John Loney, 100, of Neshannock Township, peacefully passed away the morning of December 16, 2014 at his residence. Born on June 14, 1914 in Yatesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Sandy and Lizabeth Colchar Loney. On July 26, 1942, he married his beloved wife, the former Evelyen Mikitta, and the two spent over 66 wonderful years together until she preceded him in death on June 10, 2009.


John retired as a welder for United Engineering. In earlier years, he worked as a coal miner. He was a member of Shenango Presbyterian Church and the Lodge of Craft Westminster #433. John was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Pirates and Steelers. A wealth of knowledge, he was known for his memory and as a historian.


John is survived by his daughter, Marsha L. Johnston and husband Lyle of New Castle; daughter-in-law, Barbara Loney of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, John A. Loney, Mark C. Loney, and Kelley Jo Loney; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Loney and John W. Loney. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son, John W. Loney; brothers, Alex and Charles Loney; and sisters, Julia Berrie, Irene Szill, Dorothy Kren, Lannie Horvath, and Lizzie Loney.


Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd.


Services will be conducted Friday at 12:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Amy Na.


Interment will take place in Castleview Memorial Gardens.
