John Biornstad

John Albert Biornstad, 85, of Hood River, Oregon passed away peacefully on December 14, 2014 at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones. John was born April 11, 1929 in Greshem, Oregon to Thomas and Mae Biornstad. He married Leora Bell Punzel in Portland, Oregon on February 3, 1951. John lived in Portland and Hood River. He graduated from Greshem High School in 1947 and worked as a truck driver until his retirement in 1985. John was an active man with varied hobbies and interests including woodworking, hunting, reading, golfing, building, playing cribbage and pinochle and building model trains. He was an active member of his community and a strong Christian man. John is survived by his children: John Biornstad of Big Lake, Alaska; Sharon Carnahan of Corvallis, Oregon; Steve Biornstad of Corvallis, Oregon; Suzie Althens of Glacier View, Alaska; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leora Bell Biornstad. A memorial service for John will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Hood River Church of the Nazarene (2168 Belmont Dr., Hood River, OR. 97031).
