Rena A Nastase

Rena A. Nastase, 92, of Snow Shoe, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on February 14, 1922 in Verona, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Lucia Schirato Girardi. Rena lived in Conco, Italy and moved to the United States in 1934. On October 23, 1937, she married to Anthony “Tony” Nastase who died on December 13, 1954. Rena attended the Clarence School. She was a member of the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Chapel in Snow Shoe. Rena and her husband owned Nastase Beer Distributor in Snow Shoe until his death and she continued with the business until her retirement in 2010. She had over 70 years in the business. In the mid 1960’s, Rena purchased her first building which began her property management business. Over the years, she purchased and restored 12 more properties for use as rentals. Rena had a passion for her customers and for helping people in need. She was extremely intelligent and had exceptional work ethics. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren and community. May she now find comfort being reunited with her son, John, and granddaughter, Michelle. Rena is survived by her son, Orazio M. “Jake” Nastase of West Chester, two daughters: Gladys L. Hall and her husband, Harry, of Snow Shoe, and Margaret L. “Peg” Nastase of Pleasant Gap, daughter in law, Carole R. Nastase of Snow Shoe; eight grandchildren: Andrea Turley and her husband, John; Nicole Addis and her husband, Ken; Orazio Nastase and his wife, Kelly, all of West Chester; Jennifer Kotzur and her husband, Tom, of Howard, John Nastase and his wife, Kim, of Snow Shoe, Joshua Nastase and his companion, Carri Roan of Bellefonte, and Zachary and Ryan Kimble of Pleasant Gap, and 20 great grandchildren. Rena is also survived by her nephew, Claude Girardi and his wife, Joann of Bonita Springs, FL and their children, Richard Girardi of Eastpointe, MI, and Lisa Girardi of Bonita Springs, FL; cousins, Antonio and Angelina Girardi of Italy, and Giancarlo DalleNogare of Australia. Along with her parents and husband, Rena was preceded in death by her son, John B. Nastase, her daughter in law, Gail M. Nastase, her granddaughter, Michelle M. Domsohn, her brother, Anthony Girardi, and her sister, Angelina Girardi. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8pm with a rosary service at 7:45pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 11am, at the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Church in Clarence with Father Mark R. Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park, State College. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the care, support, and compassion given to Rena over the years to: the staff at Juniper Village at Brookline, Dr. Frank Guillard, Dr. Albert Zoda, and Mount Nittany Medical Center.
