Billie B. Bushor, age 90 of Manistee, died Monday December 8, 2014 at his home after a short battle with cancer. He was born April 1, 1924 in Muskegon the son of the late Frank and Pearl (Moore) Bushor. He graduated from Manistee High School in 1942 and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945 during World War II in the Pacific Theatre including action at Iwo Jima. After attending school in Ohio, he became a butcher and worked for A&P Tea Company until his retirement. On June 26, 1954 Billie married Margaret Poole at the Westlawn Methodist Church in Detroit. He was a member of the VFW Walsh Post # 4499 and the American Legion Post # 10 and was a member of the drill team. Billie is survived by his wife, Margaret Bushor of Manistee; son, Perry (Angie) Bushor of Howell; 2 daughters, Sue (Frank) Dorado and Holly (Mike) Blake both of Wayne); 4 grandchildren, Stacy (Matt) Holland, Nicole (Matt) Cornett, Melissa (Tom) Jaakkola and Noah Blake; 10 wonderful great-grandchildren, Valerie, Olivia, Link, Ty, Nathan, Isabella, Zachary, Molly, Wyatt and Owen; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Joe and Bob Bushor; 3 sisters, Wilma Nash, Shirley Plasha and Alice Tyler; and his grandson, Michael Bushor. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee with Pastor Joe Hilyard officiating. The Manistee United Veterans’ Council Ritual Team will conduct military honors after the service. Final interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions in Billie’s name may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
