Sterling E. Norwood, 60, died at his home in Warren on December 7, 2014. He was born June 30, 1954 in Rockland to Ralph and Anna Thomas Norwood. Sterling grew up in Warren and graduated from Medomak Valley High School in the class of 1972. He married Cindy McKellar on September 11, 1977.
He worked as a carpenter and builder for many years. He worked on many projects in Knox and Lincoln Counties. He helped the town of Warren with their many projects at the Warren Historical Society, built the town gazebo, the walk way and ramp at the Second Congregational Church, and did a lot for the Warren Free Public Library.
Sterling was well known and respected. He was a great story teller and very old-fashioned especially with electronics. He didn’t know how to run the remote control for the television, but he could build a house. He was always dreaming about the next big project.
He always enjoyed watching The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie and the Red Sox. He would often be found at Viking Lumber or Deb’s Diner having breakfast on Sundays with his “men’s group.” Sterling was very thoughtful, resourceful, hard working and was always willing to help anyone who needed assistance. He spent a lot of time in his work shop, tinkering and trying to replacate things from the past. He enjoyed old country music and music from the 60’s. He will missed greatly by his family and by all of his friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Anna Norwood and by his son, Samuel E. Norwood.
