Sara M. Mittica Obituary

Sara M. Mittica, 86, passed away the evening of November 30, 2014 at her residence in Pulaski, Pa.


Born on August 6, 1928 in Hillsville, Pa., Sara was the daughter of the late Luigi and Anna Genova Lagnese. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of sixty four years, William Mittica, whom she married on August 26, 1950.


Sara was a devoted and faithful member of St. James the Apostle Parish. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the church’s Ladies Guild. Sara enjoyed baking, cooking and spending her winters in Florida. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished being surrounded by her family.


In addition to her husband, Sara is survived by her three children, Charlene Retone of New Castle; Jeannie Audino of New Castle; William Mittica, Jr. of Youngstown, her brother, Phillip Lagnese and his wife Toni of Aurora, Oh; five grandchildren, Leslie Savage, Leah Suders, Allison Audino, Alissa Burrick, Amy Houk and six great-grandsons.


She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John Lagnese and her sister, Theresa Catale.


Visitation is Wednesday from 4PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd.


A procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday morning at 9:45AM for St. James the Apostle Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM officiated by Rev. Father James Downs.


Burial will take place at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
