Raymond R. Owrey Obituary

Raymond R. Owrey, 72, of Shenango Township passed away the morning of November 26, 2014 at his residence. Born on May 16, 1942 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Raymond F. and Dolly Montgomery Owrey. Surviving him at home is his beloved wife of 51 years, the former Sally Lewis, whom he married on May 4, 1963.

After 32 years of working, Raymond retired from his job as a machinist for Ellwood City Forge. An active and devoted member of Hoover Heights Christian Missionary Alliance Church, he served as an Elder and a Sunday School teacher. He was a proud supporter and fan of Shenango students and athletics, previously serving as a member of the Shenango School Board and a Little League coach. He also enjoyed going on family vacations to the beach. Above all else, Raymond’s wife, children, and grandchildren meant everything to him.

In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by his children, Richard Owrey and wife Karen, Dean Owrey and wife Deanna, all of New Castle, and Don Owrey and wife Kelly of Grove City, PA; brothers, Wesley Owrey of Poland, OH and Herb Owrey of Jackson, TN; sister, Loraine DeSouza of Medina, TN; and grandchildren, Lindsey, Jason, Alexa, Ryan, Andrew, Matthew, and Luke. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and William Owrey.

Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd.

Services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00am at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Larry Llewellyn of Hoover Heights Christian Missionary Alliance Church.

Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.

The family asks that memorial contributions take the form of donations made in Raymond's honor to Hoover Heights Christian Missionary Alliance Church 1947 Morris St, New Castle, PA 16102.
