Gerard Doudera Obituary

Gerard E. Doudera, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2014. He was born in Torrington, CT on December 29, 1932 son of the late Edward and Marion (Dennis) Doudera. He was a professor at University of Connecticut for many years and eventually became the head of the arts department. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a hard-worker and a great provider. He was known for his kind spirit and his ability to see the good in everything, which reflected throughout his beautiful paintings. Gerard leaves behind his two beloved sons; Gunther R. Doudera and his wife Teresa of Coventry, and Jason B. Doudera and his wife Pamela of Mansfield, grandchildren; Jennifer and Michael Singer of Stafford Springs, Lori-Anne Doudera of Brooklyn, Kimberly Doudera of Vernon, and Selene Doudera of Storrs; great-grandchildren Sean Coles and Cayden Singer, as well as his sister Lorraine Vienneau of Plymouth. Besides his parents Gerard was also predeceased by his brother Dennis Doudera. A special thanks to his caregiver, Anna Kaczmarek, for her tender loving care. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4-6pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home 2665 Boston Tnpk (RT44) Coventry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Wednesday November 26, 2014 at St. Patrick - St. Anthony Church 285 Church St. Hartford . Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford.
