Helen Piett

PIETT - Helen E (Smith), age 87, passed away peacefully at peopleCare, Tavistock on Saturday, November 22, 2014. Helen was born on and lived 86 years on the 3rd Line before she decided to move to peopleCare, Tavistock. She was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Annie Smith. The beloved wife of the late Roy S Piett. Dear mother of Marlene (Bill) Matheson, Roger (Patti) Piett and Craig (Karen) Piett. Loving grandmother of Matthew Matheson, Michelle (Adam) Martin, Katherine (Chris) Plested, Riley, Haley and Jay Piett, Carly and Brody Piett. Great–grandmother of Elise and Max Matheson, Grayson and Claire Martin. Survived by brother-in-law Jim Gibb (Grace). Predeceased by her brother Alex and wife Hazel Smith and her sister Annetta Gibb, sisters-in-law Ferne and husband Roy Brookfield, Blanche Bigham and brother-in-law Stuart and wife Christine Piett. Helen was a faithful member of St Andrews United Church, Brooksdale and life member of the U.C.W. After moving to Tavistock, she faithfully attended Grace United Church. Helen graduated from the Stratford Normal School and taught at Harrington and Wadlands Public School in the early years and returned to teaching Kindergarten at Zorra Highland Park School after raising her family. Helen was a life member of the Brooksdale Women’s Institute and was an avid scrapbooker of local events for the Tweedsmuir History books. Friends and relatives may call at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004), on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 3-7 pm The celebration of Helen’s life will be held at Grace United Church, 116 Woodstock St S., Tavistock on Wednesday November 26, 2014 at 11 am. Rev. Mary Stewart will officiate. Interment will be in North Embro Cemetery .
