Acel "Raymond" Hamilton, Jr.

Acel “Raymond” Hamilton, Jr., 52, passed away November 18, 2014, after a year-long battle with cancer. Raymond was born November 19, 1961, in Star City, to Carolyn and Acel Hamilton, Sr. He served in the Air National Guard from Feb. 1980 to Feb. 1986. He was an ordained minister with Evangelistic Fellowship. Raymond pastored at Thompson Chapel in Appleton for three years sharing God’s message. He also owned Hamilton Construction and enjoyed building and remodeling houses. In years past, Raymond ran races and marathons, including the L.A. Marathon two times. He was preceded in death by his father, Acel Raymond Hamilton, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, JoAnn; two daughters, Lydia Hamilton of the home and Kristie Hamilton and fiancé Alex Ahouse of Morrilton; son, Ace Hamilton and wife April of Russellville; granddaughter, Aliza Ahouse of Morrilton; step-grandson, Donovyn Ketchum of Russellville; mother and step-father, Carolyn and Gene Culwell of Caglesville; sisters, Pam Curtis and Sandra Bryant of Appleton; brother, Jody Hamilton and wife Julie of Atkins; step-brother, Aaron Culwell and wife Shelley of Russellville; step-sister, Karen and husband Mike Hokhold of Hector; two half-sisters, Lynda Petrides of Plainfield, CT and Cindy Coughlin; and numerous family members and friends. Additionally, a special place in his life was taken by Rev. Jimmy and Connie Coffman of Appleton: they were his mentors and friends throughout his ministry and before. They were all deeply loved by Raymond. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, November 20 at Lemley Funeral Home in Atkins. The funeral will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, November 21, at Hector First Assembly of God with Rev. Shane Williams and Rev. Terry Duvall officiating, with special music by Sandy Stroud, followed by burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Hector. Pallbearers are his son, Ace Hamilton; nephews, Jeremy Curtis, B.J. Reid and Dustin Curtis; and longtime friends, Donnie Haley and Rev. Joey Hanna. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Raymond to: Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home, 220 John Babish Lane, Russellville, AR 72801.
