Helena Riegner Obituary

Helena (Kelsch) Riegner, age 90, formerly of Bally, passed away on November 15, 2014 at Frederick Living in Frederick, PA. She was the widow of Joseph M. Riegner, who died in 1985. Helena was the daughter of the late John & Kathryn (Letterhouse) Kelsch. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Leon, Joe, John, Romaine and Paul. She retired from Perkiomen Clothing Factory after 50 years of service. Helena was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church, where she volunteered for many years to clean the church with other retirees. She was also a long time member of the Bally Senior Center. Helena was an artist using a crochet hook instead of a paint brush. She made afghans and crochet dollies with people’s last names crocheted in them. She has made thousands of these family heirlooms. Basket making was another of Helena’s passions, as she gave many baskets to friends and family. Baking was a favorite pastime of hers; from cookies to cream cheese pies, from apea cakes to chocolate cakes, she baked them all. Surviving is one daughter, Luann Zambanini, wife of Robert A Zambanini Jr. of Barto, and one granddaughter, Katarina Illona Zambanini. Services: A private funeral Mass will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Bally. The Falk Funeral Home, Pennsburg, is in charge of arrangements. Contributions may be made in her memory to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 610 Pine Street, Bally, PA 19503; OR Frederick Living Benevolence Fund, P.O. Box 498., Frederick, PA 19435, OR to an animal rescue shelter.
