Shirley Ann Nicholson, 79, of Stephens City, Virginia died Saturday, November 15, 2014 at her home. Mrs. Nicholson was born September 7, 1935 in Capon Bridge, WV; the daughter of William George and Thelma Spade Slonaker. She worked first for Capital Records in the injection molding department and last as a housekeeper at Westminster Canterbury. Shirley attended Zion Baptist Church in White Post, VA. Shirley married Roosevelt Nicholson March 27, 1998 in Flint Hill, VA. Along with her husband, Roosevelt, she is survived by five children, Jack O. Kendall of Shepherdstown, WV, Sharon J. Whittington of Winchester, Linda V. Wolford of White post, VA, Michelle D. Mason of Winchester and Dorothy B. Nicholson of Front Royal, VA; four step children, Lorie Ann Woods of Stephens City, Rosie Ferrebee of The Plains, VA, Velt W. Nicholson of Stephens City and James E. Nicholson of Front Royal; one brother, John Slonaker of Winchester; two sisters, Kathleen Sirbaugh of Fort Ashby, WV and Betty Peacemaker of Winchester; fifteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is predeceased by a daughter, Deborah A. Gaumer, an infant son and a brother, June Slonaker. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the Jones Funeral Home in Stephens City. A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Kitty Hahn- Campanella officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Memorial Cemetery, White Post, VA. Memorial Contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, VA.
