Victor Steiner

Victor R. Steiner, 96, of Berne, IN, formerly of Monroe, IN, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Swiss Village in Berne. He was born on January 26, 1918 in Adams County, IN to the late Cyrus and Amanda (Bruchy) Steiner. On May 18, 1952 he married Margaret Reichenbach; she preceded him in death on May 19, 1993. He was a self-employed farmer in the Monroe area and also worked at Berne Furniture for 7 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-1946 in the South Pacific Islands. Victor was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by a son Vic (Julie) Steiner II of Berne; a granddaughter, Jennifer (Danny) Barker of Shelbyville, IL; a sister Minnie Mertz of Berne. He was also preceded in death by a sister Marcella Heuther and 2 brothers Ernest and Jarvis Steiner. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 in the Swiss Village Auditorium with visitation 3 hours prior from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Linthicum and burial will take place in Ray Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the American Legion Post 43. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
