Rebecca Wolfe McDowell, 64, of Winchester, died on Sunday, November 9, 2014 after an 8 year struggle with Ovarian Cancer. Mrs. McDowell was born July 16, 1950 in Winchester; the daughter of John T. Wolfe and Mary Miller Wolfe. A graduate of Handley High School, Becky attended Smithdale Massey Business School. She was the Director of Wellspring. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She married Jerry K. McDowell on June 12, 1999 in Winchester. Along with her husband, she is survived by her sister, Sharon Wolfe Thornton of Stephens City, VA; her daughters, Michelle McGrath of Richmond, VA and Jennifer Maciejewski (Joseph) of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren, Catherine and Elizabeth Maciejewski of Atlanta, GA; and nieces, Elizabeth Trosch of Charlotte, NC and Alison Thornton of Winchester, VA. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Winchester with Rev. Martha Miller Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, Matthew Thornton, Michael Thornton and Eric Trosch as well as Joseph Maciejewski, and Elliott Caldwell. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wellspring (A Cancer Resource Center), 525 Amherst Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
